Applications are invited for an 18-month Research Associate position to work with Prof Ramon Vilar on developing novel Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) contrast agents with therapeutic properties. The successful applicant is expected to design and develop new MRI contrast agents based on lanthanide complexes attached to nanomaterials. This nanoconjugates will be further functionlaised with targeting/therapeutic moieties. The successful candidate will also be expected to engage in understanding the MRI, optical and therapeutic properties of the new nanoconjugates
Applicants are expected to have a PhD in Chemistry or have an equivalent level of professional qualification and extensive expertise in the synthesis and characterisation of metal nanoparticles and of lanthanide metal complexes. Also required is experience in the development and study of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) contrast agents based on lanthanides. Practical knowledge of tissue culture techniques will be an advantage. A proven publication track record and a good standard of written English is also required.
