Our client is leading services and engineering provider to the defence sector. Currently we are seeking to appoint an Operations Manager/Chief Pilot for Yeovilton providing flying training to the Royal Navy utilising the Grob 115E training aircraft.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the General Manager Air at Cranwell, the key accountabilities of the job holder will be as follows:
- To lead and manage all aspects of 727 NAS operations at Yeovilton in accordance with current contract requirements, customer needs and the appropriate military and civilian regulations.
- Maintaining consistent customer satisfaction through close daily liaison with the Commanding Officer 727 NAS (the Customer’s Designated Officer).
- Recruitment, training and development of all Babcock unit staff.
- Responsible for the management of the contract budget, ensuring the right balance between customer value and costs.
- As a highly experienced A2 qualified Light Fixed Wing QFI, ensuring that the QFI team delivers the highest quality flying and ground instruction to a diverse range of courses including Air Experience, Refresher, Conversion and Pilot Grading.
- Through the Licensed Air Engineer on site, ensuring aircraft maintenance and support to the flying programme is of the highest quality standard, under our EASA compliance regime.
- Maintaining a comprehensive set of local orders particular to the CinCFleet contract and task.
Qualifications & Requirements
On Job Training will be provided for the right candidate however initial suitability will be judged against the following criteria:
- Proven management skills, including finance, preferably within a military aviation environment.
- Considerable flying instructional experience, preferably military.
- Current or previously held Military A2 category instructor qualification on a relevant type.
- UK or JAA CPL(A) including current Class 1 medical and relevant IMC rating or Instrument Rating.
