Sky Skills Studio is an initiative created by Sky to engage students with Sky content, technology and production whilst delivering the National Curriculum requirements and improving the students' life skills. The Sky Skills Studio is an interactive centre with the unique opportunity for pupils to create and sculpt their own content. The students will be asked to produce a video based on one of the following key stage education subjects; English, Maths, Science, Transition (students migrating from Primary to Secondary education), Citizenship and Sport/PE The Activity Leader will have to ensure all visitors to the Sky Skills Studio have an enjoyable and informative 'only Sky can offer' experience. To act as an ambassador for Sky though hosting a group of young people or adults on a Tour of Sky's Broadcasting House, Sky Studios, and through the Sky Skills Studio experience. To create a friendly and fun environment whilst maintaining a professional attitude ensuring all visitors leave having had an amazing experience. We have a number of permanent and Fixed term contract positions whose responsibilities will be:
- Provide an experiential tour of the Sky Studios for pupils (aged approximately 9-18yrs), teachers, customers and Sky staff * To deliver the experience in a professional, quality manner to all our visitors, demonstrating exceptional customer care skills at all times * Host 2 groups per day (32max per group) and potentially up to 3 visits per day in peak times * Maximise the value of the visit with a concise, engaging tour, minimising the disruption to employees' working lives and ensuring smooth entry and exit of visitors * To demonstrate a thorough knowledge of Sky, taking responsibility for remaining up-to-date with new developments, in order to be able to deliver accurate information * To be the face of Sky to a wide range of audiences inspiring a professional image at all times * Ideally you will have good knowledge with all technology in the studio i.e. Edit Table, Cameras, Green Screen. Training will be provided. * Create and maintain an environment which promotes cooperation, learning, and enjoyment * Assist children with special needs or disabilities and ensure they feel included in the group activities * To be able to engage and support visitors in carrying out their tasks, particularly assisting with time management to ensure the group maximises their experience in the time given * Collate quantitative data and provide feedback to the pupils and teachers * Be aware of all their H&S responsibilities and comply fully with them. * Have an awareness of the Equality Act and be able to deal fairly with diverse groups * Photograph the pupils during the tour at the specified photo op 'Hall of Fame' and take photos during the experience itself in the Sky Skills Studio * Responsible for daily set-up and take-down of activity equipment and materials
Working hours will be 08:00 - 16:30 Monday to Friday and Annual leave maybe restricted to term time. To be successful in this role you will have experience working with diverse groups of people, including children. You will have a track record on customer service with great knowledge or interest in media and technology. Ideally you will have previous experience in a primary or secondary school or as a Tour Guide / Explainer. You will be expected to have exceptional communication skills; ability to interact with a wide range of cultures, personalities and ages and will demonstrate a proactive approach and commitment to continuous improvement.
