Position: Web Development Manager
Location: Welwyn Garden City
Salary: to £60k depending on experience
ROLE:
The Web Development Manager will be working as part of the business team that defines and manages development of their different websites, covering continuous improvement of the customer experience and the business applications used in their current sites and new customer initiatives to deliver step change for the business.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) Putting the customers first - owning the user experience on all company websites and ensuring we always deliver an excellent customer experience online.
b) Acting as the business `product owner` on Agile project teams - managing the backlog and working with scrum teams, architects, project managers to prioritise work, understand and resolve issues and deliver the website to the business colleagues and customers.
c) Prioritising user stories and business requirements into sprints both across the web teams and working with other teams to ensure all projects are delivered with the right priority.
d) Engaging stakeholders at project initiation by demonstrating business case and customer benefits and managing ongoing communication to stakeholders throughout project.
e) Working closely with the commercial and marketing teams to deliver customer, trading and business efficiency improvements to make us ``better, simpler, cheaper``.
f) Managing business implementation of web development projects within marketing and wider business teams.
g) Working with IT innovation team, external agencies and suppliers on development projects, managing the timelines and deliverables.
h) Leading innovation for the business on specific websites to ensure Tesco.com are marketing leaders.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
a) Previous experience in a Web Development Manager role or similar
b) Educated to Degree level at 2:1 or above.
c) Practical development experience of working on website customer experience including the following aspects: user centred design; usability testing; information architecture; copy management; visual design; UAT.
d) Creative, analytical and pragmatic with a solid technical understanding.
e) Development and/or operational knowledge of all areas of ecommerce marketing: internal and external search; online marketing including SEO, affiliates, ecoupons, email, MVT; ecommerce merchandising including price, promotions, content management; web analytics; mobile web/apps and mobile marketing.
f) Previously worked across the full lifecycle of web development projects - define, design, develop and deliver. These will have ideally been in an ecommerce/retail environment
g) Ideally you will be comfortable working on large scale IT projects working as a product owner in an Agile development environment.
h) Comfortable liaising and influencing at all levels of management, both internally and externally.
i) A passion for learning and all things digital.
j) Excellent written and verbal communication skills - structured, flexible and clear.
