The successful applicant's initial duties will include one or more of the
following:
• To assist in the conduct of on-going research projects;
• To undertake analyses, to enhance the evidence base, of economic
issues pertaining to the agri-food sector and the wider rural economy at
the regional, national and international levels;
• To undertake ex-ante and ex-post economic evaluations of policy
instruments;
• To assist in the publishing and presentation of outputs in appropriate
formats in recognised peer reviewed journals, research reports, policy
briefs and stakeholder presentations, including formats accessible to
non-economists;
• To undertake continuous professional development, including
participation in relevant workshops and conferences, thus maintaining
up to date specialist knowledge;
• To fulfil other duties and responsibilities, as determined by line
management, that fall within the general responsibilities of the post. 7
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Applicants must, by the closing date for applications:
1(a) Have at least a 2.1 honours degree in agricultural economics, economics
or an equivalent subject;
OR
1(b) Have at least a 2.1 honours degree in any subject plus a postgraduate
degree in agricultural economics or economics;

2. Post primary degree economic research experience, particularly using
