Position: Lecturer in StatisticsSchool/Department: School of Mathematics and PhysicsReference: 12/102137Closing Date: Friday 31 August 2012Salary: £32,901 to £48,246 per annum (including contribution points)Anticipated Interview Date: Week commencing 24 September 2012JOB PURPOSE:To contribute to the advancement of Statistics/Operational Research; to undertake research in line with the School’s research strategy, to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and to contribute to School administration/outreach activity.MAJOR DUTIES:Research:1. Develop and plan an area of personal research and expertise, and undertake research as a member of the Centre for Statistical Science & Operational Research (CenSSOR) team.2. Develop a high-quality publication record by publishing in refereed journals and presenting at conferences to advance individual research and to enhance the School’s research profile.3. Publish research in appropriate Statistics & Operational Research journals and present work at conferences.4.
Develop research proposals and funding bids in collaboration with others.5. May work/collaborate on original research with colleagues in other institutions.6. Provide guidance to other staff and students on own specialist area.7. Direct, coach and develop research staff, where appropriate.8.
