The Multi-function Team (MFT) is an integral part of FMC’s surface organisation. The two key functions of the MFT are Quotations and Sales Order execution. The MFT is a department where all the different major functional groups are link and combine within a single department in order to harness the synergy within cross functional teams. The MFT consists of the following functional groups; Engineering, Quotation specialist and Project managers.
The primary objectives of the MFT are to be externally focused, understand customer needs and increase customer satisfaction by providing quality products and services in an accurate and timely manner and at a competitive price.
Structured to align geographically to specific countries and customers the MFT allows better understanding of customer’s requirements and maintained continuity.
As part of the dynamic MFT, this role offers the opportunity to for exposure to both engineering and other cross linked functions within the MFT.
Responsibilities:
Research, plan, coordinate and propose original designs of mechanical products and systems
Prepare ECNs (Engineering Change notices), DBIs and review detail drawings prepared from design layouts
Make necessary engineering changes to product drawings and DBIs
Employ extensive knowledge of engineering theory, mathematics and practical mechanics to solve design and production problems
Participate in investigation and disposition of non-conformances
Provide technical support to internal and external customers
Participating in customer and project review meetings
Present designs to engineering staff during design reviews
Provide necessary support to various internal departments (manufacturing, shop, planning, QA, commercial, purchasing, assembly, etc.) as equipment is progressed through the facility
Work within a team environment to solve business issues
Field service as required for training and offshore installation
The Design Engineer role allows individuals to develop both technical skills in a fast-paced environment and personal skills whilst meeting the requirements of an increasing responsibility and experience level.
With a strong engineering design aptitude and substantial experience in a product design environment, you will also ideally have the following qualification:
Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar)
Significant experience in a design engineering role in a similar industry will be an advantage
Ability to perform high level engineering calculations
Other qualifications / combination of education and experience may be accepted at the discretion of Engineering Management. Offshore installation experience would be advantageous.
