Applications Support Engineer

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Application Support Technical Engineer to join our client's team based in Edinburgh.

You will accurately record, progress and resolve internal and customer related issues, providing support across a variety of shifts and patterns, including evening, night-time and weekend shifts.

Candidates applying for this position must demonstrate the following skills and experience as a pre-requisite:-

• At least 2 years working in an Application Support role, supporting large/complex applications.
• DBA skills and experience - maintaining a mainstream database product such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, DB2 or MySQL.
• Web Application experience including writing SQL scripts.

It is also highly desirable (but not crucial) for candidates to have comprehensive working knowledge of ITIL; Windows XP Professional support; Linux or UNIX support; Administration, configuration, deployment and sizing of one or more J2EE systems such as JBOSS, WebSphere or WebLogic;Apache/PHP/Perl./r/nMCP/MCITP/MCSA/MCSE certification.
