As a Senior Artist - Games, you will be responsible for driving all art efforts for developing the next generation browser-based 3D games using Turbulenz technology.
You will work closely with the production team to understand market and production needs and help transform them into solutions to produce the greatest next generation browser-based games. As you will have a pivotal role in everything to do with art and visuals, you will need exceptional knowledge and skills in many different aspects of art in game production.

Turbulenz is an emerging games platform that instantly delivers high quality 3D games in the web browser to gamers around the world. Turbulenz is currently in closed beta and enters open beta later in 2012.
Turbulenz was founded in early 2009 by a group of former Directors and Programmers from Electronic Arts. Since then, the team has grown to include developers and business leaders from some of the world's leading entertainment companies such as Sony, Square Enix, Eidos, Realtime Worlds, CCP and Lionhead Studios.
Turbulenz is privately funded and has raised over $5 million to date.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for building, evangelizing and executing the artistic vision for Turbulenz's first party games teams.
Responsible for creation of Art Design Documents based on the game design document for the project, covering technical art issues.
Coordinate all art efforts to deliver game artwork satisfying the visual, design and technicalities of the product.
Set up workflows, pipelines and tools that allow for efficient, flexible and timely delivery of high quality assets.
Working with the producer, maintain a production plan delivering assets to an agreed time frame.
Demonstrate a consistently high standard of visual quality in all artwork produced.
Manage outsourcing of artwork to external partners.
Ensure good communication & coordination between the art and other parts of the team (programming, level design, design, production).
Skills and Experience:
BFA or related creative or technical design degree.
5+ years of professional game development experience.
Strong ability to concept sketch or illustrate.
Excellent skills using Photoshop.
Excellent general 3D modelling skills using Autodesk Maya or Autodesk 3ds Max.
Strong technical knowledge of methods and techniques within a 3D engine.
Experienced in creating high-quality particle effects, 3D modelling (e.g. characters, building, props, etc.), rigging, animating and creating textures.
Strong technical ability in creating art pipeline.
Experience in lighting.
Experience in shader creation and techniques desirable.
Experience in current 3D graphics techniques.
Scripting experience (Max Script, Mel, Python, Lua or UC) desirable.
Experience with content management systems.
Comfortable in a fast-paced and fast changing entrepreneurial environment.
Effective communicator and a team player.
Portfolio must demonstrate strong art skills.
Experience in outsourcing artwork desirable.
All candidates must be eligible to work in the UK and travel to the USA.
Turbulenz is based in the centre of Guildford, a couple of minutes walk from the station. Guildford is 35 minutes from London Waterloo.
