This position is responsible for developing and maintaining a portfolio of reports from multiple enterprise database systems. for developing reporting solutions with a focus on managed and ad hoc reports using Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SRSS) and/or maintaining and migrating Crystal Reports. The Report Writer will work with representatives from the lines of business to develop report specifications, implement such requests in SSRS using SQL Server. This position requires subject matter expertise in business functions and practices as well as experience gathering requirements directly from end-user groups. This hands-on role requires focused attention to detail so as to ensure that systems of high availability and scalability as needed by the organization and its business partners are fully functional and operating 24x7. This role requires the capability to respond and support the production reporting systems in a timely and cost effective manner. This role requires an adequate understanding of complex large-scale data models for enterprise systems and the underlying business processes. This role also requires the ability to communicate effectively with end-users, team members, management, and external customers.
FUNCTIONS:
Develops reports of varying size and complexity from user requirements
Evaluates capabilities and limitations of new and existing technical tools and systems
Recommends improvements to current processes and reporting capabilities
Acts as liaison between systems users and internal and/or external information technology groups
Plan, develop and create reports on SQL Server databases using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
Implement report writing policies and apply report writing best practices
Integrate data from other sources (SSIS) into SSRS and reports authored in other technologies
Assist in completing hardware and software platform upgrades and migration
Assist in maintaining and enhancing database performance
Provide information by collecting, analysing, and summarizing database performance and trends
Responsible for data analysis and management reporting
Designs and runs database reports or report writing tools based on end-user needs
Incorporates end user requests and requirements to develop enterprise reporting solutions
Provides support to the team or management by collecting, analysing data and reporting results.
Collaborates with various functional teams within the organization to achieve business results
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education:
B.S. in Computer Science or Information Systems, or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
Experience:
4+ years experience as a SQL Report Writer using Microsoft SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio
Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles and practices
Strong experience in designing and implementing reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
Strong understanding of writing stored procedures, triggers, user functions, views and indexes
Experience with Crystal Reports in an enterprise-level production environment
Experience with development and deployment in a data-warehousing environment
Strong knowledge of Windows Server 2005/2008
Strong knowledge of software engineering project life cycle and best practices
Experience in SharePoint a plus
Experience in healthcare industry a plus
Experience in the .NET programming languages (VB.NET or C#) a plus
Experience with Great Plains a plus
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
