The John Rylands University Library provides library and information services to the students and staff of The University of Manchester. It is one of the largest academic library services in the country catering for the needs of some 36,000 students and researchers, as well as academic staff. The JRUL possesses 4 million printed items, one million microfilms, over 41,000 electronic journals, 500,000 ebooks and a large number of databases.
The Customer Services Division in the Main Library has small teams with special responsibilities. The Customer Services Assistants work at the front-line of the service dealing directly with customers on a daily basis, resolving queries and supporting the use of the library’s developing range of self service facilities. This includes important routine administrative tasks which are vital in providing effective service to the library’s customers.
