Je-S is a bespoke .NET web based document exchange system used by the Research Councils to provide their communities with electronic research grant services. The purpose of this role is to lead the Je-S technical support team, overseeing the day to day work of a small .NET support team and ensure SLA targets are met for incident and problem management. You will be responsible for the performance management of the team, make sure that support coverage is adequate, and be aware of the priorities of the business. You must have expertise in .NET and will assist team members in resolving impediments as well as providing direct hands-on application support.
You will be the main point of contact with Service Delivery Managers and provide regular reporting on support activity as well as acting as deputy for your direct manager. The role includes acting as the escalation point for issues and to be the well informed point of contact for managers.
The postholder will be involved in the change processes ensuring resources are made available and progress is tracked. You may be required to liaise with other SSC technical and functional support teams, Project Managers, Production Services and the Architecture team in order to ensure that changes and incident resolutions are co-ordinated and delivered to the highest standards.
The Je-S team leader is expected to be pro active in identifying opportunities to maximise benefits from applications or other environment software, and to be jointly responsible with all other support team members for Data security and integrity. Position and Person Requirements

Qualifications:
BSc (Hons) in Computing or Computer Science or other IT discipline Or relevant equivalent experience

Skills and Experience : Essential technical:
A good track record in development using ASP.Net
Strong and demonstrable SQL skills, including stored procedures and query optimisation.
Use of Team Foundation Server or similar products for the management of change control.
Web Services experience
XML & XSD schema design and use.

IIS Essential management:
Hands-on experience of being a member of a support team
Understanding of service support process especially incident management and ITIL principles
Ability to performance manage people
Ability and knowledge to mentor Support Analysts
Strong planning and organisation skills and experience of managing resources
Strong Influencing and communications skills
Ability to provide expert advice on system use
Ability to multi-task and to prioritise effectively.
Good analytical skills to assist root cause analysis and see the wider picture
Strong IT change management skills Desirable
Experience of creating Windows Services
Experience of large system development and support.
Knowledge of web and accessibility standards desirable
