The work of The Children's Society brings leadership and expertise to the field of young carers. The overall outcome of our work with young carers is to ensure that children and young people should be protected from inappropriate caring and have the support they need to learn, develop and thrive, to enjoy a positive childhood and to achieve.
Funded by The Big Lottery, The Young Carers in Focus project aims to ensure that young carers will have improved resilience, confidence, skills and knowledge, improving their well-being and quality of life particularly during key transition points to independence.
This exciting 4 year England-wide programme will be delivered by The Children's Society, in partnership with: DigitalME, YMCA Fairthorne Group, Rethink Mental Illness, Fatherhood Institute and AFIYA Trust. It will enable young carers to run their own safe social network, creating media about their lives aimed at both informing policy-makers and other young people.

This role is the parental substance misuse strand of the Young Carers in Focus programme of work, bringing expertise, resources and links to networks already established through The Stars National Initiative in Nottingham. To sup
