Apprenticeships Vacancies x 2
Approved apprentice wage. Minimum of £104 per week
2 Vacancies for people aged 16-24 to gain a step into a career in conservation management or agriculture.
1 year contract
The HEDGE Project is looking for two enthusiastic and committed people to join their team to carry out restoration work of lowland heathland. Based on a farm near Wimborne, you will gain basic work experience in agriculture ranging from livestock husbandry to maintenance of farmland and fields. The other half of your job will be to assist the team with heathland restoration ranging from scrub clearance, livestock checks, fence repairs, boundary reports and dealing with the public.
You will gain a great understanding the management of SSSI designated areas and Higher Level Stewardship. Overall you will gain a good ecological background of heathland habitats.
Apprentices will be required to attend college occasionally which in return will give you a NV2 level 2 diploma in conservation management/agriculture whilst gaining some practical training courses.
The project is well suited to someone living in the Poole, Bournemouth, Wimborne West Moors, Verwood or Ringwood areas. The important thing is to be able to travel to the home farm just off the A31, 2 miles East of Wimborne. A car would be helpful but is not essential; a fit person can cycle to the Home Farm from the North side of Poole within 30 minutes
HEDGE requires someone who has a good sense of humour, will work well in a team and will work hard on all tasks required of them. Being able to work in all weather conditions is essential too!
