Our client is looking for a Buying Assistant to fill a permanent role based in the Peterborough, Cambridgeshire area. This is an excellent opportunity for someone already experienced in this area or for someone looking to get in to this industry.
Job Purpose for Buying Assistant:
- To fully support all day-to-day activities of the Buyer/Assistant Buyer
Key Responsibilities for Buying Assistant:
- To act as a key line of communication with all suppliers, liaising upon day-to-day issues, product and marketing information
- Develop a thorough knowledge of both markets, product ranges and the competitive environment including pricing information VS the company
- To set up new suppliers and products on ISIS and maintain all product and order related information in a timely manner
- To set up all product information on the I-Card
- To provide effective communication within the Buying and Merchandise teams and with other teams as appropriate, e.g. Quality Control and Warehouse
- To assist in resolving all issues with both internal departments and external suppliers as necessary and required by the Buyer and in some instances the Assistant Buyer
- To prepare, distribute and check all internal and external documents ensuring that specifications, terms and conditions, contracts and return forms in particular are completed accurately by suppliers
- Bringing all amendments/deviations to the attention of the Buyer/Merchandiser
- Develop and maintain appropriate systems (reports/files/spreadsheets) for the effective running and performance of the area
- To work closely with the Buyer/Assistant Buyer or independently on supplier and other ad-hoc initiatives accurately producing appropriate paperwork
- Provide requested product information and analysis as requested by the Assistant Buyer and Buyer
- To be responsible for all sample coordination ensuring all appropriate procedures are followed
Person Specification for Buying Assistant:
- Graduate calibre
- Highly numerate with strong analytical skills
- Enquiring and logical to deliver practical solutions
- Strong attention to detail
- High PC Literacy
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Plan, prioritise and focus on the issues
- High level of merchandising, supply and inventory process knowledge
- Self-starter and able to work to exacting project deadlines
- Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills
- Visible, persuasive and receptive
- Resilient
