A leading International Services Company in the Oil and Gas industry is seeking a Regional Drilling Technical Sales Consultant to support their growing drilling and completions business within Europe and the Sub-Saharan Africa region. This is a senior level position and applicants are invited with a strong background in drilling and completions and a keen interest in driving innovative solutions and supporting the sales effort within this region.
The Company, with offices in 80 countries is a leading provider of integrated software solutions to the global energy industry - from finding hydrocarbons to evaluating the prospects, building the wells, and managing and optimising the production process. Their drilling and completions software enables engineers, geoscientists and contractors to share and visualize information as a team, evaluate alternatives and collaborate on designing the best solutions, resulting in improved reservoir yields.
The Company has been at the forefront of leading technology advancements for nearly three decades and their drilling and completions software solutions are growing in demand. In this varied role, you will support clients in maximising the effectiveness of their technologies, support sales in understanding the tools on offer and to present the value add of drilling solutions to clients, support software development in devising technologies that will meet the evolving drilling business, and you will support marketing in effectively positioning the drilling and completions technologies throughout the region.
All too often, clients do not know how to exploit fully the drilling and completions technologies they own. As production costs soar, it is vital that this workflow is maximised. With experience in well engineering, well planning and well bore design technologies; your role will be to devise workflows and practices that can assist in transferring this knowledge and to devise presentations that clearly articulate the value-add of the Company's drilling solutions.
Responsibilities: Reporting to the Regional Sales Manager your primary responsibilities will be to:
Become proficient in the Company's portfolio of drilling and completions and related data management technologies. Full training will be provided where required.
Become proficient in the Company's implementation methodologies, practices and processes.
Become the trusted advisor (
Guru
) for all drilling and completions workflow matters and major projects within the region.
Identify and build close relationships with the Client's petroleum and drilling community.
Work closely with the Sales Team in helping them to understand the technical benefits, to understand how these tools compare with the competition, what the key differentiators are, and what the value proposition to clients is.
Participate closely with the Sales Team at high level client meetings to articulate clearly the benefits of the Company's drilling solutions.
Ascertain client's workflows and devise strategies that will maximize their usage and value in this area. This may require working at client sites from time to time.
Be proactive in promoting the improved workflow capabilities to the petroleum and drilling engineers and other relevant groups.
Identify and document additional drilling and completions tools required, work closely with the software development team in relaying these requirements and understanding, help manage their implementation in the market, build into workflows and promote within.
Provide advice and guidance for moderately complex problems relating to the operational use of their drilling and completions applications.
Proactively transfer knowledge regarding technology updates and new product information to the engineers, and from the engineers back to relevant Company personnel.
Develop professional relationships with team members, clients, and industry contacts.
Be proactive in raising the understanding of drilling and completions tools internally - mentor more junior staff.
Work closely with marketing personnel to raise the awareness of these tools and reputation. Be proactive in marketing: roadshows, exhibitions, conferences, and in developing case studies
Keep abreast of emerging practices, trends and technologies in this area and be the conduit of this information to all internal stakeholders.
This senior level role requires an individual with a keen interest in drilling and completions software solutions and the ability to transfer knowledge re the tools, processes and practices involved. You will have a great deal of scope to influence the direction of new tools and you will work closely with sales and marketing to ensure that the value proposition is understood internally and conveyed externally in an effective manner. Interesting and varied role working for a global service provider in the upstream oil and gas industry.
Preferences: The successful candidate will have:
A degree in a Petroleum Engineering or Earth Science subject essential.
A minimum of 10 years' oil and gas industry experience essential.
Excellent understanding of the full oil-life cycle, especially of the petroleum/drilling workflows, the challenges faced, emerging trends, and the competing demand for production resource.
A strong desire to impart knowledge, the raise awareness and understanding of innovative technical tools and to mentor more junior staff.
Strong commercial acumen essential.
Previous experience in a pre/post sales or/and in sales of drilling solutions highly advantageous.
Broad knowledge using industry standard drilling and completions applications essential (e.g. Dims, OpenWells, Compass, Compass, Petrel Drilling, and/or Well Plan). This could be working with, supporting or/and consulting with these tools.
Understanding or knowledge of Landmark's more advanced tubular design technologies such as CasingSeat, StressCheck and/or WellCat highly advantageous.
Highly analytical with the ability to resolve complex problems and articulate the solution effectively essential.
Previous experience in a consultancy role, in assessing technical requirements and the ability to succinctly convey into concise recommendations highly desirable.
Good practical understanding of oil company data management highly desirable.
An assertive individual with the ability to relay technical knowledge effectively and project confidence to internal and external stakeholders - also has the ability to make bold recommendations for continued innovation of tools.
Excellent communications skills - you will liaise with all levels of personnel (internally, clients and third parties) throughout the region in many capacities.
Personality and confidence to build strong relationships at all levels to deliver results. The ability to form relationships across different cultures and form relationships of trust is paramount to this role.
Strong MS Office essential.
Ability to perform under pressure and to deliver results.
Ambitious with a keen desire to develop ones career.
International travel as required to support sales.
Package: This is a senior level position and a Base Salary of between £75K - £85K GBP plus Bonus and Company Benefits are on offer dependent on skills and experiences.
