To engineer and administer the process and equipment required for manufacturing activities. To work within a cross-functional team responsible for the total life cycle of manufacturing projects.
Duties
To design, specify, acquire and sign off tooling, equipment and machinery, to ensure that robust capable processes are established.
To produce and understand CNC part programs, using a variety of programming languages.
To evaluate existing manufacturing systems with a view to the justification of change and improvement.
To evaluate potential cost reduction programs in new and existing products.
To evaluate and purchase production in-progress gauging requirements.
To work in a TS16949 environment, upholding the ethics of the company's quality standards.
To assess product cell Overall Equipment Effectiveness and improve machine/ equipment availability.
To maintain and develop Process Documentation i.e. Process Sheets, FMEA, Process Flow and APQP.
To travel abroad for supplier/customer visits (as required)
To resolve daily manufacturing issues and concerns
To ensure existing processes are maintained and updated when necessary.
To optimise and improve processes working in conjunction with Continuous Improvement activities
To generate technical drawings using CAD
To ensure Machinery and equipment are maintained and available to production.
To co-ordinate between the Engineering and Production teams
To develop, repair and rework schemes for products including containment actions and concessions.
To have working knowledge of the legislative requirements of Health & Safety, Environmental and Risk Assessment
To perform any other duties reasonably required to achieve departmental and/or Company objectives as deemed appropriate by the Engineering Manager
Qualifications
A HND or Degree in Mechanical or Production Engineering is essential.
Experience
Proven experience gained within low volume high added value machining and assembly processes, preferably gained within an automotive environment
Previous experience of Project Management including budget control and man management skills
Previous experience of constructing CNC programmes from 2D drawings and 3D models and ability to prove out on CNC machines
Proven experience of CNC cutting tools
