Antenna Design Architect, Swindon
We are searching for a very experienced Engineer to work as the Antenna Design Architect to develop near field coupling models. This will require a good sense of using/developing mathematical models and developing ways of adapting these according to customer requirements.
The Engineer will define and measure the architecture of new and existing NFC antennas within customer systems. This will involve detailed analysis of NFC antennas within the mobile phone and PC product sector including the specification definition, implementation and measurement of each antenna to enable the total system to meet or exceed overall system specifications.
The ideal candidate will have the following profile:
Knowledge of the whole Antenna product development process from specification, through design, verification and layout, to manufacture
Mathematical knowledge covering s and z domain analysis techniques, s-parameters, signal processing, and modulation/demodulation techniques
Antenna technologies, structures and architectures
Electromagnetic field theory
In depth knowledge of simulation and mathematical tools such as HFSS, ADS, MathCad, Matlab and Simulink
Detailed system knowledge including the use-cases of the product involving integration, software requirements, application notes, reference designs, etc
Mathematical modeling skills will be a plus
Creativity and innovation in generating new ideas for modeling coupling of near field antennas
Experience with load modulation - passive and active an advantage
Able to carry out lab experiments to gather measurement data
Use of EM/circuit simulators, including Matlab programming models
RF layout and RF/Analog circuit design will be a plus
Excellent personal organisation and knowledge of management methods to enable resources to meet project deadlines
Good judgement and decision making in finding innovative solutions and follow through of commitments
Good verbal and written communication skills for reports, plans, documents, correspondence, log book records, and dealing with team colleagues, customers, suppliers or partners in many varied situations
