We have a great opportunity for a Kitchen Porter to work within our operation at Edinburgh Airport.
As a Kitchen Porter you need to be a reliable and punctual individual with a good level of English (verbal and listening) with the ability to follow instruction.
Life at the airport is particularly busy and you must be available to work shifts which can include early mornings, late evenings, weekends and public holidays on a rota basis.
It would be advantageous to have previous experience in working within a similar pressurised and fast paced environment.
Duties would include:
- To ensure a clean and safe working environment in the kitchen, the wash up area and other back of house areas.
- To ensure the chefs have all the equipment and utensils they need at all times keeping up with the high pace and volume.
- To keep all kitchen and food preparation areas immaculately clean at all times.
- To dispose of refuse in line with the company and site requirements.
- To follow the correct procedure for using washing up equipment and to maintain all machinery and equipment appropriately in line with completed risk assessments and training.
- To follow the correct cleaning procedure using correct products and to be fully aware of the proper storage of products as required.
This role requires particular physical attributes due to its nature and tasks. A standard of general physical health and fitness is required i.e. vision, hearing, ability to work under the particular conditions of the job:
- Mobility - Moving some considerable distance on a daily basis on a hard surface
- Temperature - Exposure to areas of heat and cold (to moderate extreme)
- Physicality - Some lifting and carrying may be required
- Environment - Exposure to loud noise over a sustained period, requirement of the ability to coordinate sensory information
A key requirement of this role will be the necessity to come into contact with alcohol and alcohol products, and products containing alcohol and where necessary serve, clear, sell, move alcohol and related products.
Qualifications:
You must be able to successfully acquire a full airside pass which requires; providing five years of checkable work history referencing; you will be required to give exact dates of the period .We will require a contact name and address for all references applicable to you in the past 5 years. If you have been travelling or not working for any other reason during the past 5 years, this would need to be confirmed by a personal referee. EVERY GAP OF MORE THAN 14 DAYS MUST BE ACCOUNTED FOR.
References must be acceptable and suitable, without the relevant information we cannot issue the necessary paperwork to obtain an ID pass. Additional as part of the procedure to obtain an “airside pass” you will have to complete a criminal record check.
