The Role

Kent Law School (KLS) wish to appoint a Clinic Solicitor/Barrister for three years, exclusively in the field of immigration and asylum law.

KLS has received funding for the post from Unbound Philanthropy, the Samuel Sebba Charitable Trust and the Migration Foundation.

The successful applicant will join in with the work of the other Clinic Solicitors and Co-ordinators as part of the staff team in the Law Clinic in supervising and teaching students in this field and advising and representing clients. They will also be expected to research and publish on the law, procedure and policy relating to the operation of immigration and asylum law, including the accessibility of public legal services and other legal assistance for immigrants and asylum seekers.

The Person

You will hold a professional qualification entitling you to practise as a solicitor or barrister and hold a degree or equivalent qualification.

Extensive experience as a solicitor and/or barrister in representing clients in immigration and asylum law and the ability to produce and publish high quality academic research in the field of immigration and asylum law, procedure and policy are all essential to this position.

Experience of teaching undergraduate and/or postgraduate law students would be an advantage.
