We are currently seeking an experienced Kitchen Assistant to join the team at our Spring Lane Day Nursery. This is a part-time role working 4 hours a day Monday to Friday totalling 20 hours a week. Spring Lane Day Nursery is situated within Chaucer Technology School, with easy access to the town centre and 10 minutes from Canterbury East rail station. CCTV, a secure entry system and stringent CRB and reference checks for all staff assure security for your peace of mind.
The Kitchen Assistant is responsible for assisting the cook with all kitchen related duties, ensuring that a high standard of cleanliness is adhered to at all times and to prepare and deliver all food requirements for the nursery in conjunction with the cook.
Experience in a similar role and a recognised catering qualification is desirable, however not essential. A food hygiene certificate would also be desirable.
Key Responsibilities will be include;
Order the food supplies required to deliver the menu and supply the fruit for the morning snack
Prepare and follow procedures for special/preference diet requirements
Adhere to the agreed menu
Prepare any puree foods required for the weaning menus
In conjunction with the cook and nursery manager assist in monitoring and controlling all catering costs
Wash all nursery dishes, cutlery etc and leave ready for the next meal requirement
Undertake shared responsibility for health, safety and cleanliness throughout the nursery
Adhere to health and safety policies and procedures
