Experienced Java developer for a strategic Equity Derivatives pricing platform, utilising grid computing and distributed caching technology. The role requires experience of working on distributed enterprise Java systems in an agile environment using Spring, application servers, web services, caching, JMS, SQL, Linux tools and scripting, in a grid computing environment. Excellent communication and inter-personal skills with ability to resolve complex issues, working with globally distributed teams. The role also requires some knowledge of exotic derivatives pricing and risk management concepts.
For the right candidate this role offers exposure to cutting edge technologies on a large scale distributed computing platform using a grid farm to perform real-time pricing of JP Morgan's derivatives positions. The platform is mid-way through a transformation and there is significant opportunity for green field development, design and architectural input. The platform is also fundamental to pricing and risk calculations within the Investment Bank so the role offers a chance to learn about Equity Derivatives and risk management.

Qualifications
Essential Skills
Significant experience of working on distributed enterprise Java systems with multiple tiers of services, caching, remote procedure calls and JMS messaging
Experience working in a complex spring-based development environment
Good relational database experience with exposure to complex data models and queries
Ability to work efficiently in a complex multi-server Linux environment using Unix tools and scripting
Excellent communication and inter-personal skills with ability to resolve complex issues with a distributed team
Ability to work under pressure/out of hours when required. There will be a third-line production support aspect to the role. Issues on trading systems have to be resolved in a timely fashion and this can entail staying late or starting early to cover market conditions and production outages.
Some weekend work. There are bi-monthly weekend releases of the risk platform and this requires cover from the development team on a rota basis. There may be some other weekend cover from home during ad hoc releases.
