Key Responsibilities:
Build, configure, deploy and support a wide range of datacentre hardware, network devices and connectivity requirements

Deal with Incidents and Requests within Remedy ITSM and handle phone queries

Provide face to face support to the centre's users and project teams

Progress network initiatives (e.g. technology refreshes, hardware upgrades, IOS upgrades, connectivity requirements, technical compliance management)

Undertake day-to-day maintenance of devices, configs, structured cabling and firewall policies

Follow defined processes for hardware, cabling, IOS and config changes

Perform device IOS builds, installs and configs as per company standards and policies

Comply with ISO20000, ISO27001 and BS25999 certification controls

Perform hardware moves, commissioning / decommissioning - involving lifting of equipment, loading bay duties and use of hand tools etc.

Manage backups and associated media in line with defined processes and procedures

Undertake out of hours changes, support, resiliency testing and standby as required, sometimes at short notice

Complete and document daily / weekly / monthly compliance and operational checks

Maintain network and rack diagrams and other network documentation as required

Maintain accurate records about VLAN and port usage and for invoicing purposes

Assist users and teams in following security processes and procedures

Ensure that physical cabling changes are completed to a high standard with accurate labelling and records

Qualifications

Key Skills:
Holder of current or not long expired CCNA or CCNP

Must be able to demonstrate existing skills in Cisco routing, switching, IPSec, NAT & PAT, trunks, firewall admin, connectivity troubleshooting

Must be able to demonstrate existing skills in admin of Juniper ISG firewalls and SecureAccess SSL VPN

Experience using Remedy would be an advantage as would any skills around Cisco load balancers, encryption devices and the ability to lend an occasional hand with incidents involving VMWare, Websense, DNS & DHCP server envs

Must demonstrate strong ownership of activities and a proactive approach to driving and resolving requests, incidents and project tasks

Willing to operate within defined OLAs / SLAs, standards, processes and procedures, and to accurately document and capture artefacts in support of frequent compliance audits

A good team player and willing to assist in a variety of tasks across the wider team

Able to work under pressure within specified timescales

Able to collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients to get the job done

Able to communicate appropriately with Users, Management and Senior Executives

Reliable, punctual, hardworking, flexible, positive and well presented

Willing to accept and act upon performance feedback

Remain calm under pressure and act in a mature and professional manner at all times
