Category Product Manager - Marketplace
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced, innovative and customer-focused Category Product Manager to join our team, reporting to the Senior Product Manager, and based in our Welwyn Garden City offices. The Category Product Manager will help trade the depth and breadth of third-party range across the marketplace categories. He/she will drive revenue growth, drive demand and traffic, conduct regular intensive business analysis and reporting, and manage projects working with the product management team to build a world class customer experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and drive category by category strategy with the focus on maximizing trade of existing range, and prioritizing range expansion.
- Identify opportunities derived from the category strategy or through other sources; develop the business cases that quantify and drive the requirements for new features and enhancements.
- Champion the needs of internal stakeholders and external partners to help prioritise feature development.
- Contribute in the definition and prioritization of the product management roadmap and support development and grooming of the Marketplace backlog
- Collaborate with trade and category planning across the business to identify key initiatives or product launches with the focus on optimizing the trade planning strategy.
- Deep dive analysis of range, category and seller performance
- Define and implement content quality standards and guidelines for each category – work with Marketplace business teams to insure these standards are achieved
- Conduct business and financial analysis, including forecasting, monitoring, and reporting.
Candidate Profile
Key Competencies/ Behaviours
- 4+ years product management experience, preferably within an ecommerce company
- Experience leveraging Excel and Access (or a similar database) in order to analyze data to support business decisions
- Objectively able to assess and prioritise the needs of multiple stakeholders.
- Able to operate in a flexible environment, thriving on change and excited by the prospect of navigating uncharted waters.
- Ability to work with wide range of people at all decision-making levels, both internally and externally. You should be a great ambassador for Tesco with excellent interpersonal skills.
- A keen strategic thinker, with the ability to see the bigger picture yet focus in on detail when required.
- Experience in consulting and/or retail/consumer products industries
- Proven analytical skills and highly comfortable with numbers
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects - work prioritization, planning and task delegation
- Broad commercial awareness developed in a fast-moving environment
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including strong writing and speaking skills
