Data Analyst - Graduate Planning

Role Description:
Our client is a leading engineering business within the defence sector that has an opportunity to recruit Data Analysts. The role will be predominately analysing data of engineering parts/programmes for material consumption and trends in order to better understand the key components of demand. This role would suit a Graduate with strong mathematical data analyst skills and a keen interest in engineering.

Additional responsibilities include -

• Develop and manage improvement activities across business to act on availability and cost drivers
• Managing provisioned stock against approved budgets.
• Utilising and managing forecasting tools to predict future spares requirements against customer arising.
• Providing accurate demand signals for the supply chain based upon effective provisioning and inventory management.
• Continuously improving forecasting techniques, method and approach.
• Relating and measuring the impact of forecasting accuracy.

The provisioning activity is central to all integrated operational support schemes where payment of profit is subject to the satisfaction of demands for spares and repairs to percentage availability.

Key Accountabilities:

• Design and implement common processes across the business for the forecasting, procurement and management of materials supported by systems such as Optimiza and SAP, with particular focus on analysis and recommendations.
• Effectively manage inventory by being accountable for:
• The control and forecast of inventory
• Identifying and managing the cost of inventory
• Ensuring inventory management controls are in place and maintained
• Managing inventory and optimising financial return to the business and spares availability to the customer.
• Identify and manage programme risks.
• Analyse Military export spares sales to determine frequent movers, decide stocking policy to reduce lead times and maximise turnover and customer satisfaction.

Essential knowledge/skills/experience

• Highly developed analytical skills and logic
• Knowledge of demand management and forecasting techniques.
• Strong mathematical abilities
• Multi tasking able to work calmly under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Sound educational background, to Degree level, in either a business orientated discipline or engineering
