Our client is a well known organisation based throughout North Down and Antrim. A position has arisen for a Computing Project Manager to join their team based in Lisburn on a 3 year contract.
Computing Project Manager
JOB PURPOSE
The post holder will manage a cross business engagement project in computing, ensuring that the three year project delivers against targets, on time and on budget. It will involve identifying and securing revenue from various sources as well as delivering for customers. This role is fundamental in building our clients position as a leader in computing knowledge transfer and skills provision. Customer needs and satisfaction will be at the heart of all activity.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Develop and implement a project plan across six locations. Liaise with locations to ensure that a consistent approach is taken to implementing this across the locations.
- Monitor performance of the project on an on-going basis. This will include liaison with colleagues, the overall programme Manager and the Department for Employment and Learning.
- Prepare and produce all funding, evaluation and performance reports for the project for circulation internally, to the overall Programme Project Manager and the Department of Employment and Learning. This will also involve preparation for and participation in audit and evaluation activities.
- Identify and assess risk management for the project. Control risks by putting in place effective risk control systems and monitor these.
- To secure new business clients for computing knowledge transfer and skills services.
- To complete tenders for funding and commercial business and client proposals within area of responsibility.
- To embed processes across the college to ensure that there is a strong commercial, business-like approach and a commitment to supporting businesses.
- To build strong, long-term customer relationships ensuring high standards of customer satisfaction and product/service delivery.
- To deliver skills and knowledge services to clients to meet their needs. Where appropriate work on-site with clients to deliver R&D services. It will also include preparing and delivering bespoke materials for clients, ensuring these are to the highest quality standards.
- To embed evaluation processes to ensure an ethos of continuous improvement based on customer feedback.
- To liaise with colleagues to ensure that all mainstream processes are followed.
- Keep up to date with new developments and trends in area of expertise to ensure that all service delivery is relevant and cutting edge.
- Act as the designated line manager for all staff engaged within computing in all Human Resource management activities, including conduct and discipline, performance management, attendance management, staff appraisal and staff development.
- Lead and manage the development planning process within the computing project team ensuring an effective and efficient plan which is consistent with the strategic aims of the college and all agreed performance targets;
Essential Assessment Criteria
- Minimum of HND or equivalent level 5 qualification in Computing / Software Engineering or related area.
- A minimum of 3 years in the last 5 years in an IT role with experience in mobile/web application development or integration or IT systems or data security
- A minimum of 2 years project management experience including budget management
- A minimum of 1 year staff management experience
- Experienced and competent in the use of SQL, C# and JavaScript
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including strong negotiation and influencing skills
- Have a current driving licence and access to a car or have access to a form of transport that will enable the post holder to fulfil the role in full
- Self-motivated with the ability to progress several tasks simultaneously and maintain timescales, including when working under pressure
- Ability to quickly identify, analyse and solve problems
- Ability to work in a results oriented environment including delivering on targets
- A commitment to delivering high levels of quality work to secure customer satisfaction
Salary will be around £35k per annum and this is a 3 year contract
