The management of MI within AXA Commercial Direct underpins all aspects of our business performance. From informing the Managing Director and the Senior Management team of our week-to-week performance, to delivering performance MI at an individual level for Team Managers, the output from this team is key to how we function as a business. Externally, there is a huge reliance on our MI team to produce information for our Strategic Partners to allow them to track our performance against plan, as well as delivering against the MI requirements they have set out as part of their contractual agreements with AXA. Delivery is challenging – with a variety of systems in place across our business, we need to reflect our performance on one, consistent platform and it is the ultimate responsibility of our MI Manager to ensure this is done well and in line with the expectations set.
The role
The purpose of this job is to build, lead & manage the MI function within AXA Commercial Direct, working with key stakeholders to deliver successfully and in a timely manner against the reporting requirements of the business and its strategic partners.
Key accountabilities are to;
Lead & manage the MI team to deliver against their agreed objectives. Manage the relationships and workloads between our on-site MI team and the teams in BICC and ABS producing MI for the business to a clearly defined specification. Design & develop an MI suite, providing concise MI for all levels of the business and its strategic partners. Manage and approve all requests for additional or new MI, balancing these against the capabilities and resources at your disposal. Utilise an in-depth knowledge of the various reporting systems in use (SQL and Microsoft Access/Excel required, Business Objects desirable) to ensure the most effective and efficient MI operation is in place. Proactively identify new areas where you and your team can provide business insight to support the Managing Director and his direct reports. Relationship management - Demonstrate excellent stakeholder management, internally and externally, working collaboratively to define requirements and manage expectations around delivery and timescales. Manage external vendors to ensure appropriate systems and support exist to facilitate MI production. Provide commentary on MI produced in business context, to aid interpretation and draw out key information. Ensure all data management processes are clearly defined, with procedural guidelines in place and kept updated for all report production.
Skills, knowledge and behaviour
Excellent data management skills including: Extensive experience in SQL (preferably using SSRS). Extensive Microsoft Access experience, building databases, creating and amending queries. Extensive experience of Excel. Excellent communication & negotiation skills. High attention to detail. Able to proactively identify business issues.
