Our Client is a well known organisation based throughout Northern Ireland. A position has arisen for a MST Technician to join their team on a 9 month contract.
Maintenance Scheduled Task (MST) Technician
About the Role
The role will involve creating and updating Maintenance Scheduled Tasks (MSTs) for operational assets, utilising company procedures and practices and using a database to record progress against assigned tasks.
This role will be key to the successful delivery of the Asset Data Acquisition and Improvement (ADAI) project. Without this role, it would not be possible to process the volume of changes to maintenance schedules which will be required as the ADAI asset inventory is conducted. The business must conduct the asset inventory in order to make essential improvements to asset data quality, but if maintenance schedules are not created or updated the consequences could be severe.
Key Activities – Duties & Responsibilities:
- Post-holder must be capable of implementing M&E and Operations Services policy and procedures in relation to Maintenance Scheduled Tasks (MSTs).
- Where required, this issue will be delegated to the MST Team Leader
- The post-holder must be capable of taking decisions on the most efficient approach to asset maintenance, following direction by the MST Team Leader if required
- In order to optimise MSTs, the post-holder must possess sound problem solving abilities, ensuring that conflicting demands for operational resource can be prioritised and addressed.
- Create or update MSTs when assigned by MST Team Leader
- Enter MSTs correctly in Ellipse system
- Optimise MSTs
- Ensure that activities are accurately recorded on tracking database
- Ensure that assigned MSTs conform to M&E requirements
- Ensure that assigned MSTs conform to Operation Services requirements
Skills:
- Relevant 3rd level qualification - degree/HND or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical or Process engineering;
- 3 years experience relevant to operation and maintenance of M&E or ICA assets or treatment processes.
- 5 years experience relevant to operation and maintenance of M&E or ICA assets or treatment processes.
- IT literacy.
Essential Criteria
In addition to satisfying the above criteria, applicants will also be expected to display the following qualities and skills in their application form and at interview:
- Ability to plan a schedule of maintenance (taking the characteristics of an asset into consideration)
- Ability to monitor and report on progress against pre-defined schedule
- Ability to self-manage tasks in line with priorities to enable objectives to be met
- Ability to anticipate and resolve problems.
- Ability to optimise a schedule of maintenance
- Knowledge of M&E business processes
- Understanding of Treatment Processes
- Capable of interpreting characteristics of assets and correctly associating these with appropriate maintenance schedules
- Capable of understanding a preventative maintenance strategy (risk, frequency, job duration etc) and ability optimise the use of a limited pool of resource (craftsmen)
- Understanding of asset management information
- Ability to utilise advanced features of MS Excel (pivot tables, conditional formatting, formula)
- Capable of using tracking database to record progress.
- Create, maintain and enhance effective working relationships
- Ability to work with people from differing disciplines and at different grades
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a wider team.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including influencing negotiating and communicating with stakeholders
- Ability to collate and communicate information in order to meet project requirements
- Provide management information to allow for effective planning of project resource
Salary for this position will be £11.61 per hour and will be paid weekly.
This position is a contract position and will end in March 2013.
