To provide the geotechnical engineering lead within the Belfast office, coordinating the input from geotechnical engineers in Cardiff and elsewhere. Projects ranging from large to small, including infrastructure, transport and building schemes, with responsibility for working closely with clients to deliver effective ground engineering solutions, and developing the “geotechnical business” in Northern Ireland. Role Developing engineering solutions from concept through to implementation stage Working closely with key stakeholders to deliver solutions which exceed client expectations Maintaining an overview of Geotechnical Engineering design quality Supervision and management of the detailed geotechnical design and drawing production Maintaining high technical standards consistent with the project brief Attending meetings and communicating with clients to establish their needs Communicating and liaising with clients and managing client meetings as required Project leader on multi-professional projects with high Geotechnical Engineering content Managing project team to ensure production of deliverables to agreed timelines and within budget Supporting senior management in business and technical development Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior members of the team Representing Arup externally at conferences and seminars promoting the philosophy of the firm Requirements BEng in Civil Engineering or a BSc in Geological Sciences supplemented by an MSc in Engineering Geology/Geotechnical Engineering/Soil Mechanics or Foundation Engineering and have achieved professional qualification In depth knowledge of engineering procedures and standards Have good awareness of engineering design beyond own discipline Be able to design and deliver geotechnical engineering solutions on major and/or complex projects Strategic thinker with proven experience of developing and implementing creative and successful engineering solutions Excellent programme management skills including the ability to handle multiple projects Able to understand the balance of engineering priorities on differing projects Ability to motivate individuals to work collaboratively as a team Excellent people management skills and experience of managing staff at all levels Able to quickly develop successful client relationships Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines is essential Excellent communications skills (both written and verbal) Able to demonstrate strong commercial awareness Enthusiasm for international working would be an advantage Arup UK - 11 months ago
