Oxfam’s Fundraising Groups are teams of volunteers who work together to raise vital funds for Oxfam’s work to alleviate poverty and suffering worldwide.

The role of Treasurer is essential to the smooth running of the group. You will be responsible for ensuring the group deposits vital funds to Oxfam in a timely and efficient manner. You will also be responsible for keep the group informed of how much money is raised through your various fundraising activities.

The group’s fundraising activities can be anything and everything – from frog races to gala dinners, boat trips to music events. There are roles to suit everyone – like putting up posters, speaking to your local newspaper, managing event logistics, and using social media to get the group’s word out – all we ask for is lots of enthusiasm!

Finally, the Oxfam regional team will be on hand to offer help and advice every step of the way.

You will have a vital role in raising funds to support the work of Oxfam in alleviating poverty and suffering worldwide – importantly whilst having fun!

Manage the group finances in accordance with Oxfam guidelines

Receive and bank all money collected by, and given to, the group keeping a permanent record of all money received and spent

Issue receipts for all monies received

Attend or send a financial status report to Group meetings and answer any queries about Group finances

Maintain a bank account in the name of The (group name) Oxfam Fundraising Group, and ensure that all funds are paid into this account

The Group must not hold in the account more money than is needed to meet prospective commitments

Ensure that no money raised in the name of Oxfam is spent on other causes

Organising and promoting fundraising events and collections with other group members.
