Based within the Centre for Rural Health (CRH) in Inverness, this post represents an exciting opportunity to participate in an international project entitled “Recruitment and Retention of Health Care Providers and Public Service Sector Workers in Remote Rural Areas”. The post is funded by the Northern Periphery Programme of the European Union (NPP) and NHS Education for Scotland. The project will run from 1st January 2012 until June 2014, the countries involved in the project include Scotland (Highland and Western Isles), Norway, Sweden, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Iceland, Greenland and Canada.
The project sets out to find solutions to the persistent problem of difficulties in recruiting and retaining high quality people to work in the public sector in the remote rural areas of Northern Europe. The core project will address issues and solutions with respect to health care workers. The Strategic Management Group will identify areas within the core project work which are applicable to other public service workers. This will relate to those people working in education, the social services, the fire and emergency services and local government civil servants.
As this post is funded by the Northern Periphery Programme of the European Union and NHS Education for Scotland it will be available until 30 June 2014.
This post is not on the current "shortage occupation" list and does not meet the minimum qualification requirements as issued by the Border and Immigration Agency therefore it will not qualify for a work permit. Unfortunately we are unable to consider applications from candidates for this post who require a work permit to work in the UK.
