With a diverse Server Landscape, plethora of technologies and operating systems due to different organisational acquisitions and business mergers, TUI UK & Ireland are recruiting a Server Architect who will be the technical lead for all Server Activities across the business.
This role will be the primary interface for all technical aspects across the specialised area and responsible for the development, support and delivery of server technologies working with 3rd party suppliers, business partners and as a key resource in projects.
The successful candidate should have proven experience in developing/designing storage and backup solutions, knowledge of designing and running virtualised environments and an understanding of data technologies. You will have an excellent vision of the IT market and current trends in disaster recovery and high availability. You will also need to work independently as well as being able to working closely with the wider Technical Architecture team in order to align key designs with strategies within other architecture towers.
What You'll Be Doing
Have responsibility for the detailed design and implementation of technical solutions across programmes or multiple projects relating particularly to standard desktop deployment, Citrix and management automation
Work with the Information Security Manager to define infrastructure security standards
Investigate and evaluate new infrastructure technologies
Develop standards and guidelines so there is no ambiguity in the use or management of infrastructure services.
Identify and drive forward the implementation of solutions that deliver new functionality and make technology more cost effective.
Ensure cost effective solutions are implemented that are stable, scalable and supportable
Ensure the implementation of any new infrastructure components is carried out with no impact to production services
Monitor Service Levels and customer satisfaction and initiate actions and improvements to provide a service that is fit for purpose
Ensure third party suppliers in order to ensure compliance with infrastructure standards
Evaluate software tools, products and architecture, in order to advise on suitability
Ensure new processes are documented, so that knowledge is passed on accurately
Manage third party suppliers and project teams to ensure the Infrastructure is developed with the appropriate levels of resilience minimising single points of failure
Ensure necessary technical documentation and procedures are maintained and kept up to date
Ensure that Service Delivery are able to take on support of new infrastructures
Provide capacity planning forecasts for core hardware components, recommend improvements to drive down costs and improve efficiency
Guarantee license compliance for wintel systems
Maintain a fact base of operational costs
Maintain an accurate configuration management database
What We're Looking For
Proven working knowledge of developing/designing storage and backup solutions, knowledge of designing and running virtualised environments and an understanding of data technologies
Broad knowledge of the IT market and current trends in disaster recovery and high availability
Ability to work independently as well as excellent team working skills
Delivery of complex IT projects
Service oriented
Proven understanding of the techniques for managing large infrastructure through scripting and automation
Awareness of targets and constraints and ability to work to these
Understanding of commercial needs and be able to demonstrate that services are cost effective
Ability to see the big picture, analyse complex technical landscapes and evaluate technical solutions
Capable of designing far reaching technical changes
Issue management and escalation experience
