Applications are invited for a Lab Technician to be based in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology at the University of Cambridge, under the supervision of Dr Sabine Bahn.
The successful candidate will work in Dr Bahn's state-of-the-art molecular profiling laboratory at the Cambridge Centre for Neuropsychiatric Research on the identification of biomarkers for psychiatric disorders. Applicants should have more than two years experience in cell culture, sample preparation, mass spectrometry, immunoassay and Western blot techniques. They should also have a BSc and/or MSc degree in Neuroscience or related discipline and strong computing and statistical skills, with experience in Microsoft Office. Experience in mass spectrometry and related sample handling and storage with a background in Laboratory Information Management Systems is essential. It is also important that the successful applicant can work as part of a large research team and, therefore, have excellent interpersonal, oral and written skills. Some experience in basic laboratory management, including sample ordering and shipment, is also be desirable.
