An immediate requirement has arisen for a Design Engineer to join an exciting and dynamic team in a rapidly expanding, international company. Based at their offices in Dunfermline you will join the team as a Design Engineer with a view to working towards Senior Engineer and Lead status. You will be given the opportunity to obtain Chartership status with clear and obtainable targets set from the start.
Although this is a design role, you will be required to be client focused, understanding your customers needs and providing quality products and services in an accurate and timely manner. This dynamic role will offer the opportunity to explore not only engineering but other cross-linked functions within the group.
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Research, plan, coordinate and propose original designs of mechanical products and systems
- Prepare ECNs (Engineering Change notices), DBIs and review detail drawings prepared from design layouts
- Make necessary engineering changes to product drawings and DBIs
- Employ extensive knowledge of engineering theory, mathematics and practical mechanics to solve design and production problems
- Participate in investigation and disposition of non-conformance's
- Provide technical support to internal and external customers
- Participating in customer and project review meetings
- Present designs to engineering staff during design reviews
- Provide necessary support to various internal departments (manufacturing, shop, planning, QA, commercial, purchasing, assembly, etc.) as equipment is progressed through the facility
The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level with a good honours degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline, coupled with significant industry experience in a similar environment. You must also be able to perform high level technical calculations. All of this coupled with a strong engineering design aptitude will make you the ideal candidate.
