Supplier Development Manager
Basingstoke

Our Client, part of a global organisation are currently recruiting for a Supplier Development Manager to join their team. Within this role you will be required to provide leadership and direction for Supplier Development across the Basingstoke and Rugby sites by providing direction, best practice, cross functional support and the development and deployment of supporting processes to deliver the required step change in supply chain performance.

Within this role your main duties will be to:
Establish and embed the vision and strategy for Supplier Development across both sites
Promote sustainable improvement activities and continuous improvement philosophies in the supply chain
Identify and promulgate internal and external 'Best Practice’
Develop and continuously improve policies and procedures and ensure consistent execution, not least through "how to guides" and "functional tool kits"
Ensure Supplier Development resource is trained and capable to deploy functional toolkits
Work to ensure resource is assigned and deployed effectively across SBU common suppliers
Participate in and where appropriate own improvement activities on significant 'MSS common supplier’ or on 'single Site Supplier’ affecting performance towards our customers
Ensure supplier performance, intelligence, developments and capabilities are fed into Sourcing strategies
Understand and deploy the company’s processes consistently into the supply chain. Where appropriate ensure the company is developed in line with supplier development best practice and is applicable for deployment into the supply chain Programme management
Develop and implement visual management for supply chain performance and development activities and ensure performance data and improvement activities are available on demand
Ensure the Sites escalate supplier performance issues in a timely manner and ensure priority supplier activities are resourced appropriately
Ensure development and deploy improvement activities that deliver planned supply chain performance improvement
Programme manage the delivery of successful Sites supplier development initiatives

The successful applicant will possess:
University degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent qualification or experience
Demonstrable history of supplier performance improvement
Working knowledge of operational management in a manufacturing environment essential
Good business acumen
Demonstrable practitioner of supplier performance improvement tools and techniques such as Lean manufacturing techniques, Problem solving techniques, Visual Management processes, Supplier assessment techniques and Capacity planning techniques and working knowledge of MRP systems
Motivating and engaging management style
Negotiating capability
Capable of influencing internal and external relationships at all levels
Good planning and organisational skills
High standard of leadership skills with experience of working in a matrix organisation
High degree of interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
Essential for decision-making and problem-solving skills to develop supplier improvement plans
Excellent oral and written communication skills
