As one of the University’s six main Professional Services, Student & Academic Services provides effective and responsive recruitment, admission and administration services to support the student journey; provides student development and wellbeing support services to enhance student retention, success and graduate employability; and maintains procedures to assure academic quality and standards.
Applications are now sought for the Assistant Director (Recruitment, Admissions and Administration) to cover an internal secondment. This provides an exciting opportunity to join Edinburgh Napier University’s senior management for six months and contribute to the delivery of key internal and external priorities.
The Assistant Director (Recruitment, Admissions & Administration) will undertake a broad range of recruitment and admissions responsibilities including raising awareness and interest in studying at Edinburgh Napier; working with external partners to raise aspirations to study at higher education; devising, monitoring and evaluating UK and EU student recruitment plans; developing relationships with target schools and colleges to support recruitment and articulation; providing an integrated approach to enquiry management; implementing and managing effective, responsive and fair admissions policies and procedures and establishing a framework for conversion of enquiries through to application and matriculation. The role holder will also oversee a range of post application services including the management of incoming and outgoing student exchanges and full immigration advice to international students to meet the requirements of the UK Border Agency.
The Assistant Director will also manage staff responsible for planning and delivering major student events including matriculation, examinations and graduation and for managing University wide systems including the Student Record, Timetabling and Customer Relationship Management systems.
As a senior management member of Student & Academic Services, the Assistant Director (Recruitment, Admissions & Administration) will provide leadership and line management to teams working within the Recruitment, Admissions & Administration strategic group, helping them to achieve University priorities and departmental objectives within budget.
The role holder will have a proven track record of success in admissions, recruitment, student administration and/or student systems in a managerial role. Significant experience of financial and human resource management are essential requirements of the post, along with demonstrable success of leading, motivating and facilitating staff teams to achieve their potential. The successful appointee will have a strong record of improving service delivery by working within and across organisational units, and in doing so will have an empathetic understanding of academic work. The successful role holder will have significant experience of leading, managing and implementing projects, a proven record of successful change management and extensive knowledge of UK higher education.
