We are looking for Environment Management Officers to work on our customer facing front line to help create a cleaner, safer and healthier environment. Essentially we want to deliver environmental improvements by ensuring businesses comply with environmental legislation but we also need to influence and persuade our partners and stakeholders to voluntarily deliver more for the environment.
The work is varied, vital and often challenging. Sometimes you'll need to work with business customers to help them operate legally.
The team
You'll be part of an operational team based at one of our Area Offices. The work you will be doing may focus on tackling urban challenges from industrial or waste sites or rural challenges from agriculture or other impacts on land and water. You'll be required to make frequent and sometimes unscheduled travel to sites across the area and will need a full UK driving licence.
Experience/skills required
We are seeking candidates who have the minimum of an A Level in a scientific or equivalent discipline, or who have equivalent work experience in industry or the environmental sector. A degree in a relevant subject would be an advantage.
You are a confident and effective communicator with an understanding of modern environmental challenges and issues.
Welsh speaking is desirable.
You'll need to deal with challenging and sometimes confrontational situations as well as influencing and negotiating with all kinds of people to deliver positive outcomes.
