My client is a market leading organisation with a base in the heart of Cardiff. They currently have an exciting opportunity for a Network Engineer to join their expanding team.

As a Network Engineer you will work as part of the technical services team, you will be responsible for ensuring that the computing infrastructure functions correctly and is available to support the business. This includes capacity planning, security, implementation and general support.
The person appointed may be part of the 24 X 7 on-call support rota.

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to –
- Knowledge of various routing protocols such as but not restricted to BGP, OSPF, HSRP, EIGRP, RIP.
- Install, configure and maintain leading Cisco networking routing and switching protocols including but not limited to SNMP, VTP and STP.
- Ability to install, configure, administer and maintain firewall products such as Cisco Pix and ASA.
- Install, configure and maintain quality of service through internet connections.
- Implement, support and maintain a robust and resilient solution of network hardware that best meet business requirements.
- Provide professional level of 3rd line technical support to ensure network stability and to enable effective running of the business services.
- Design, plan and implement new systems and solutions through collaborative working as well as on own initiative.
- To proactively monitor, manage and report on all network services and response to abnormal circumstances.

Key Competencies –
- Troubleshoot VPN client and site-to-site VPN connections.
- Troubleshoot load balancer configurations (Cisco CSS)
- Troubleshoot firewall configurations (PIX, ASA)
- Responsible for performing final QC on all network devices.
- High-level knowledge and understanding of TCP/IP.
- Expert level understanding of IOS, VLAN, STP, routing and Cisco switches.
- Troubleshooting of networking devices and network related issues.
- Strong experience in configuring and monitoring Cisco IPS Security Systems.
- Preferably worked in a FSA or PCI DSS compliant environment.
- A degree in IT or similar field is desirable (or minimum 4 years commercial systems & network administration experience)
- Cisco Professional level accreditations such as CCSP/CCNP are highly desirable or the ability to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and experience.
