A global services provider is looking for a java developer to join their software development team based in Manchester. Initially the role will be purely hands-on Java development, with the opportunity for the right candidate to grow into a more consultative position. The successful candidate will be involved in the whole project lifecycle, from client meetings and project discussions, through design, development and implementation, gaining knowledge and experience of modern development methodologies.

The role itself will involve enhancing and developing from scratch large java based applications and a variety of systems depending on client needs. It is an excellent opportunity for a developer to hone their skills, as the development work will be challenging but senior consultants will be on hand to assist. Graduate applicants will be considered.

The ideal candidate will have current commercial experience developing java applications using an Integrated Development Environment. Any knowledge of IBM tools and technologies is highly advantageous. Initially the majority of work will be office based, but as the candidate grows and the role becomes more consultative, travel will be required, so a driving license will be a benefit.

Skills required:

• Experience developing in java and preferably developing web fronted java applications
• Experience using HTML, JavaScript and SQL

Advantageous Additional Skills:

• Experience using an Eclipse based Integrated Development Environment
• Experience using Application Servers such as WebSphere, OAS, Weblogic etc.
• Knowledge of Java Server Faces
• Knowledge of OOAD techniques
