• Research & Development based in Renfrew

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Subcontracts Agents to join our Subcontracts division within our Procurement and Logistics team, based at our office in Renfrew. You will be responsible for the effective formulation and administration of subcontracts for EPC projects whilst ensuring all contract and company requirements are met.

The Role
To support to the Research and Development Centre in becoming the leading edge R&D centre for boilers and related technologies by 2015.

Experience of working in the energy or engineering services sector, or experience in a relevant technical area. Experience of managing development projects would also be desirable

The Job - Key Duties
" To develop personal and technical skills and knowledge, which will contribute to the work of the R&D centre
" To share knowledge and experience and contribute to training of staff as required
" Provide Project Management advice
" Write internal proposals for work/cost estimates
" Approve the content of proposals for work
" Assistance with Projects and Proposals as requested by the Manager, R&D Projects
" To provide support to the Project Controller, as required
" To assist the Manager of R&D Projects
" Contribute to the adoption and improvement of R&D Project Management processes to improve delivery and performance
" To develop personal and technical skills and knowledge, which will contribute to the work of the R&D centre
" Check/review reports and other documents
" Willingness and enthusiasm for travel (both UK and overseas) as required for meetings and conference attendance

The Candidate - Key Requirements
" To adhere to company procedures and systems (including quality, safety, environment, administration, security) and to contribute to the improvement of such procedures (e.g. R&D Operating Procedures) where they can enhance performance
" To provide expertise within R&D in support of the Department's activities
" To coach/support staff in their work in order to develop their expertise and contribution to the company
" To propose development work (internally or externally funded) to meet company objectives, to execute approved projects and to contribute to the effective exploitation of completed projects
" To identify innovative ideas and propose those which have the potential to contribute to the work of the R&D Centre
" The provision of advice and guidance on matters relating to intellectual property within R&D and liaison with Company IP specialists
" Ensure R&D comply with all the IP requirements
" Ensure that all IP generated within R&D is entered into the Company systems
" The provision of advice and guidance on matters relating to Commercialisation within R&D and liaison with Company Business Units on commercialisation strategy
" Ensuring that all development within R&D is effectively commercialised with the Business Units
" To provide support to the Project Controller including arranging meetings, coordinating communication, preparation of reports and presentational material for internal and external use, documentation management, preparation of promotional material and events
" To lead and participate in projects and reviews of topics as requested by the Project Controller, including the reporting of KPD's
" To assist in coordination of project management activities

Minimum Qualifications
Degree, or equivalent, in relevant Commercial, Science or Engineering discipline

Preferred Qualifications
Degree in relevant discipline and working towards professional qualification (i.e. Chartered Member of Institution)
