Job Posting Covance is looking to add a Lab Equipment & Metrology Technician to our Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Development Services group in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. A great opportunity to begin your career with one of the fastest growing CROs in the industry!
The Biotechnology Division was established 20 years ago and is a fully GMP/GLP/GCP compliant facility providing a comprehensive portfolio of services including GMP cell bank production and storage, cell bank and viral vector safety testing, viral clearance services, cell based bioassays, biodistribution studies, analysis of biofluids using immunochemistry based techniques and extensive protein chemistry support including cGMP batch release and stability testing.
As an Equipment & Metrology Technician, you will be responsible for:
- The maintenance and upkeep of a wide range of laboratory equipment within Biotechnology and CMC-PDS.
- Perform routine servicing and calibration and repairs on a wide range of laboratory equipment.
- To ensure all equipment is calibrated, serviced and qualified in accordance with the metrology schedule.
- To ensure timely reporting of faulty equipment.
- To co-ordinate visits by service engineers, ensuring appropriate health and safety procedures are adhered to.
- To maintain records of all equipment as per SOP, P&P etc., including metrology schedules, calibration records and service/repair details.
- To maintain the centralised schedule of all calibration, servicing and routine maintenance.
- The individual has a responsibility to conduct all work in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, and specifically those regulations (GxP) specified in the study plans, protocols, or work agreements governing the work in which they are involved. They are also responsible for the efficient completion of equipment and metrology procedures within the Biotechnology and CMC-PDS Division.
About You
- You are ideally educated to degree level or equivalent in life science and should possess practical experience of a relevant science or engineering subject.
- A degree of manual dexterity is desirable and a background of working to written procedures would be preferable.
- A good understanding of GLP and GMP would be advantageous.
- You will possess a high level of computer software awareness including knowledge of MS Office.
- Due to the varied nature of the work involved, you must be able to demonstrate a flexible approach to work, possess excellent communication and time management skills and be able to maintain a high standard of record keeping.
