Our client is a well established and successful publisher of a number specialist magazines. A fantastic opportunity has now arisen for a Managing Editor to join the company. You will be responsible the increased profitability of a portfolio of titles against budgets and will play a key part in the overall success of this organisation. Key responsibilities will include: Magazine Performance - Working with the Product Development Executive on ways to make products more attractive to readers and working with the Publishing Director to increase the circulation whilst optimizing sales efficiency Identify and pursue opportunities for commercial development of titles and seeking new opportunities that will help raise the profile of each title through PR/Marketing activity in conjunction with the Sales Manager Work with external companies to add value to the portfolio through co- operative ventures, additional covermounts, licensed brands etc Define clear points of difference for all titles that you oversee Produce the annual budget based on the magazine strategy Editorial Team Management - Ensure the team produces high quality magazines to budget and on time including regular reviews of staff and contributors to ensure the department provides value for money.
Motivate staff and providing structure, maintaining HR records and conducting annual appraisals New Product Development - Working with the MD and Operations Director to identify clear market sectors to operate in. Take responsibility for the editorial quality, copy sales performance and market share performance of any new launch within your portfolio of titles.
