Research Associate/Fellow in Spin Waves and Magnonics (fixed-term)
University of Nottingham -
School of Physics & Astronomy
£24,520 - £35,938 per annum depending on skills and experience (£27,578 per annum minimum with relevant PhD). Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.
Applications are invited for the above post based in the School of Physics and Astronomy. The successful candidate will be required to investigate the propagation of spinwaves and magnetisation dynamics in magnetostrictive ferromagnetic materials and devices and to develop techniques to use piezoelectric induced strain for the control of spin wave propagation in nano-structures and magnonic crystals. This post will require extended visits to work in the laboratories of external academic collaborators.
Candidates should have a PhD (or near to completion) in physics or equivalent or a related discipline and preferably have experience of conducting electrical measurements at microwave frequencies, characterising the magnetic and electrical properties of ferromagnetic materials and the fabrication of nanostructures by electron beam lithography. They should be confident, organised, have good communication skills and enjoy working with a variety of different people across discipline boundaries.
This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of two years.
