Library Assistant - Prison

Main Purpose Of Job

To contribute to the provision of an effective library service within the policy and guidelines of Medway Council and the Prison Service.

Working with challenging young offenders of 15-18 years, based at Cookham Wood Prison the post holder will be expected to provide an effective library service.

Main duties will include shelving, issuing and discharging resources, maintaining records, answering enquiries and maintenance of stock.

The post holder will be expected to have a positive attitude towards providing appropriate customer care and must be able to work with challenging individuals and groups.

Good communication and listening skills together with a flexible attitude to working patterns are required
