Job Title: Military Stores Officer
Location: Blackwater, Surrey
Salary: Up to £35,000 + benefits
Introduction:
My client is one of the UK's leading support services companies. They deliver many key services including design, build, manage, operate and maintaining assets, dealing with companies both in the UK and overseas, supplying customers in a wide variety of industry sectors including Defence, Marine, Naval, MoD, Nuclear, Communications, Energy and Transportation. They now require a Military Stores Officer to be based at their site in Blackwater, Surrey.
This presents itself as an ideal opportunity to join an established company and, although not essential, could be well suited for a person who has previously served in the Armed Forces i.e. Army, Royal Navy or Royal Air Force (RAF) and has previously worked within a similar role as an All Arms Regimental Quarter Master Sergeant (RQMS) and has experience of stores/warehouse management.
Responsibilities:
- Day to day management of all stores areas (primarily technical areas) to ensure full delivery in line with the RSME Contract and within budget.
- Produce a number of direct reports across the site including Workshop Stores, Hawley Hard including BR90 Maintenance and Ammunition.
- Ensure all Technical accounts are administered in accordance with relevant publications and policies including mandated checks.
- Ensure all department monthly/quarterly returns are collated.
- Carry out monthly & weekly stock checks in accordance with relevant policies.
- Manage stock control and ensure that Management Information Systems (MIS) are updated accordingly.
- Interrogate Unit Conditioning Board (UCB) sheets and authorise accordingly.
- Day to day management of the ammunition department.
- Liaison with the relevant department heads to ensure full compliance with both ECI and LSI ensuring that the Stores Department fully comply with current regulations.
- Carry out preparation in advance of any inspection, ensuring compliance with all relevant MOD documentation.
- Assist the Stores Manager with day to day management of stores personnel across all Minley areas, stepping up and covering in his absence.
- Ensure all general housekeeping duties in order to maintain a clean, tidy & safe working environment.
- Carry out regular checks and report all findings including putting forward positive solutions.
- Responsible for the implementation and management of all HS issues across the Stores Department.
- Aid in the monitoring and the proactive control of Safe Working Systems to ensure safe working at all times and to promote a positive safe working culture.
- Attend / Chair any necessary meetings in line with role requirement or as directed by Management.
- Carry out staff performance reviews, and any investigations / meetings required in line with the company's disciplinary and grievance procedures.
- Support any additional projects identified in line with operational requirements.
- In the initial phase this will also include the rebuild project at Hawley Hard.
Applicant Requirements:
- The successful candidate must hold the All Arms Regimental Quarter Master Sergeant (RQMS) qualification.
- Experience of Stores/Warehouse Management in a large complex organisation, with Line Management responsibility for 20+ personnel.
- Experience of Stores and inventory management.
- Experience of the Military Stores accounting systems, particularly ammunition.
- Have an understanding of the management and maintenance of Engineer Resources equipment, including the BR90 bridging system or similar.
- Full valid UK driving licence.
- Project Management Skills, Unicom User, Knowledge of TAFMIS, JAMES and MJDI systems, computer literate (Microsoft Packages to an intermediate level).
- Articulate in oral & written communication.
- Radioactive protection supervisor and Risk Assessor.
- Service Excellence / Professionalism / Strong Leadership & Management / Planning & Organising including Resource Management.
