Description:
The Daventry Technical Centre are seeking a Mechanical Development Engineer. In this role you will be responsible for leading mechanical development projects for large Diesel engines, including further development of existing products, the introduction of new technologies and the development of new products. You will be working within Daventry Technical Centre Reporting to the Mechanical Development Engineering Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work together with the development team to define and implement mechanically validated components and or systems for current and new development products.
- Lead the root cause / failure analysis of components from field engines, as well as driving the ongoing development to increase field reliability through collaboration with internal departments and external suppliers.
- Management of projects using engineering principles and techniques, applying standard practices / techniques, analysing data, developing, testing and evaluating theoretical designs, recommending modifications following prototype engine testing.
- Further activities will include problem definition via working with Service / customers, failure analysis, analysis of data, comparative analysis, procurement, bench testing, engine testing, inter facing with manufacturing / purchasing, product release.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree in relevant engineering discipline
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Similar experience in mechanical development role.
- Experience in leading projects
- Knowledge of 6Sigma is an advantage
- Good time management skills
