The Principal Control & Instrument Engineer is responsible for providing assurance that our operations are compliant with Group standards and procedures, and that enhanced business and operational practices are adopted to achieve functional and operational excellence.
Central to all activities is the institutionalisation of safe working practices and embedding a culture of performance excellence focusing on both the "what" and the "how".
You will report to the Maintenance Manager.
Key Accountabilities
o Monitor maintenance performance and provide maintenance strategy improvements ensuring outputs from reliability and availability modelling are incorporated into the improvement process.
o Complete twelve monthly reviews of all Safety Critical Elements (SCE) and associated performance standards to ensure compliance with verification assurance methods.
o Liaise with vendors and sub-contractors to improve equipment performance and reliability. Track performance against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
o Provide guidance and direction in the preparation and implementation of service support contracts. Full technical ownership of related contracts.
o Ensure Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) contains a comprehensive and accurate maintenance strategy. Continually review and audit completed work orders.
o Identify safety and production critical spares to ensure minimum stock holding. Lead 12 monthly reviews to ensure stock optimisation.
o Set agreed limits for routine and non-routine Control & Instrument backlog and take the necessary action to eliminate growth.
o Responsible for cross asset maintenance support of DCS software and other programmable systems.
o Ensure all health care activities contained within the CMMS are included on the year plan.
o Act as single point of contact for all Control & Instrument health care contracts and ensure valid support contracts are in place.
Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
As a Chartered Engineer or equivalent (preferred), you will have a high level of competency and experience of working with Maintenance Management Systems. Knowledge of maintenance philosophies and strategies, inventory management and use of maintenance systems to support core processes.
You will have experience of leading change projects and can clearly demonstrate achievements in this area and have the specific authority to challenge capability and capacity of human resource and to set standards.
You will demonstrate safety leadership and promote a safety culture among all personnel with experience of optimising production from operated assets and influencing production optimisation of non-operated assets.
You will be adept at the implementation of remedial actions to sustain / improve reliability / availability, monitoring production efficiency and implementing improvements.
With a proven record of accomplishment influencing key stakeholders and external bodies in particular partners you will also have experience of working across multiple platforms (operated and non-operated) and successfully influencing partners to improve performance and change work practices.
It is expected that you will travel to Reading and offshore installations on a frequent basis.
