Research Project Manager, European Projects. Responsible for the timely delivery of all aspects of a large European Integrating Project with a number of partners across Europe, the project manager will work with the research team and partners to ensure the overall success of the project.

At HP Labs we conduct high-impact scientific research to address the most important challenges and opportunities facing our customers and society in the next decade. Researchers in HP work as part of a close-knit team and with academic and commercial partners world-wide to address key technical challenges. They take an engineering approach to research, developing advanced prototypes and systems and deploying large scale trials and pilots of new technologies and approaches.
The research groups in HP Labs in Bristol are primarily focussed on cloud and security technologies. We are expanding our team to lead a major European project that addresses a crucial need in cloud computing - to increase confidence in cloud services by enabling cloud service users to hold cloud service providers accountable for their use of data in the cloud.
We are looking for a number talented individals to join us in researching how we can make cloud computing a trustworthy and safe environment in which individuals can participate and benefit from new services with confidence and where business can offer new and innovative cloud services. These positions, on fixed term contracts, are an opportunity to research technologies that are at the heart of a fundamental shift in the information technology industries and gain experience of research in an industrial research lab.
The research project manager will be responsible for managing a large distributed collaborative European research consortium in this challenging and interesting research area which invoves working with a strong cross-discipliary team spanning top European industry and academic research groups.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Previous R&D project management experience in information technologies
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Buiness Management, Engineering, Computer Sciences, or equivalent
Knowledge and Skills
Enthusiasm for collaborative R&D and familiarity with European Collaborative projects would be an advantage
Extensive experience with using project and program planning tools and software packages to create, manage, and track project results.
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
Demonstrated business acumen and successful experience managing all aspects of programs, including communicating with stakeholders and directing matrixed teams and resources.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language.
Ability to effectively communicate program plans, proposals, and results, and negotiate options at senior management levels.
