To assist in the management and delivery of the Planning & Scheduling expertise to drive excellence & compliance through the work-streams within the Altas programme. This role forms an integral part of the Planning Team within the Enterprise Programme Management Office which is responsible for providing the co-ordination between the work-streams and the projects that form the overall programme.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
The prime responsibilities of the EPO Planning & Scheduling Specialist are:
- Supporting project planning, scheduling, monitoring and reporting activities in a central Project / Programme office environment.
- Developing and maintaining a close working relationship with ATLAS Work-streams as necessary to ensure that planning standards are being adhered to and to support those teams in assuring best practice planning is employed.
- Preparation of Project Programme documentation including WBS and project plans, contributes to requirements, risk schedule, dependency management and change control.
- Having an understanding of the relationship between the client and the customer
- Having the ability to estimate and communicate the impact of change requirements.
- Adhering to quality standards
- Producing reports for the management team that identify schedule issues and their potential impact on the programme including metrics and performance KPI's
- Providing coverage for all required activities during situations of leave or other absences.
- Maintain awareness of Project management techniques
- Identify and implement other related productivity tools as required
- Ensure that Planning Processes are implemented and remain accurate at all times.
- Producing management reports according to the agreed reporting cycle
Qualifications
Essential Skills:
- Excellent working knowledge and experience of Microsoft Project 2003 Professional and Microsoft Project Server.
- Experience of operating in a Programme Management Office environment
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Good inter-personal skills.
- Ability to support and deliver training to existing an new starters
- Understanding and good working knowledge of Project management principles
Desirable Skills:
- PRINCE2 trained and holding practitioner accreditation.
- Good working knowledge and experience of Microsoft Project Server and environment
- Good working knowledge of Powerpoint or Visio
- Understanding of Sharepoint or similar application
- Knowledge of the Defence sector.
- Database management
- Good Change management working knowledge
- Knowledge of Risk management practices
