Our procurement division have a high profile role in the business and responsibility for £6bn globally. By identifying and sourcing products and services that meet our exacting standards, and then negotiating a good price, our Procurement team have an enormous impact on the Tesco's bottom line and our continued ability to develop and deliver a world-class retail offering to our customers.
This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to contribute to and deliver the buying plan of the IT department, whilst building solid relationships with stakeholders to ensure that the right product arrives at the right time, in the right place.
Key Responsibilities:
- Writing the buying plan for projects where new software is required and delivering the same with demonstrable results
- Working with the legal teams to agree software licence contracts.
- Engaging with global and national software companies to agree licence models that give Tesco the rights to use the product in the most cost effective way. (This may include agreeing perpetual, subscription or Software as a Service solutions which will be developed, implemented and maintained by the software company or with One of their software services partners)
- Controlling the business spend through better tools, processes and stakeholder engagement
- Identifying potential suppliers and assess their suitability to Tesco
- Developing and maintaining the PSL, i.e. Software specialists for development & implementation, Third party software integrators, Software hosting providers.
- Managing Software reseller services - global and industry specific (i.e. security software)
- Consolidating supplier volumes in order to create a manageable category.
- Identifying supply chain solutions to get the product into the business on time
- Continually assessing and reviewing the supply base to deliver price, quality and availability
- Meeting with internal stakeholders to understand what needs to be bought / sold or promoted to help them deliver their strategy
- Taking accountability for all product & supplier administration accuracy through the admin assistant or Assistant Buyer
- Reviewing, maintaining and re-negotiating the necessary legal contracts
- Reviewing competitive offering in your area
- Following the Commercial rules and ensuring suppliers are listed and de-listed correctly
- Trialling equipment in the business with the design standards group/ stakeholder signoff
- Having accountability of all the purchasing processes and systems
Candidate Specification:Experience:Essential:
- Educated to degree level (or equivalent professional experience)
- IT Software category management including procuring Software licence and Services negotiations
- End to End commercial buying, ideally within a FTSE/ Blue Chip environment
- Sizeable spend responsibility (£30m +)
- Outstanding negotiation and supplier management skills
- The ability and confidence to influence at all levels and strategy direction
- Excellent numeracy and analytical skills
- Strategic agility: big picture and future thinking
- Ability to operate effectively in a changing environment
